 Cynthia M. Barber, Ph.D.

Founder Cynthia M. Barber, Ph.D., is the co-founder & managing director of Beta-Pro. Before forming Beta-Pro, Dr. Barber directed medical and clinical affairs at PBM Products, where she specialized in developing products to improve the lives of people with diabetes.
In a career that spans 20 years, Dr. Barber has also held numerous research positions at the University of Virginia and has worked as a consultant for a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms. She is also the scientific advisor of the Focus to Cure Diabetes Foundation.
Dr. Barber is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular genetics, as well as an M.S. in biological and physical science. She completed her undergraduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where she earned a B.S. in biology and chemistry.
